Accessibility Statement

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. That is the standard most public bodies in the UK are held to, and we think it is a fair target for a nursery website too.

We have not had an independent audit, so we are not claiming full conformance. What follows is an honest account of where we think we are.

• Every page is built from ordinary headings, lists and landmarks, so screen readers and reader modes can make sense of the structure.
• The whole site can be used with a keyboard alone. Links and buttons take focus in a sensible order and show a visible outline when they do.
• Photographs that carry meaning have text alternatives. Purely decorative shapes are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
• Every field on the enquiry form has a visible label that is properly connected to it, and error messages are linked to the field they belong to so they are announced.
• If you have asked your device to reduce motion, the fade and slide animations are switched off and the page stops scrolling smoothly.
• Text can be enlarged with your browser zoom, and the layout reflows down to small screens without anything scrolling sideways or getting cut off.
• The main content of every page is delivered as plain HTML, so it is readable even if scripts fail to load.
• Our phone number and address are written as text on every page, so nothing important depends on an image or a map.

• The map on the Visit Us section is embedded from Google. We do not control its markup or its keyboard behaviour. Our full address is written out beside it so you never need to use the map.
• The photo gallery opens each picture in a larger view, and that needs JavaScript. Without it the photographs and their captions are still visible on the page, just not enlarged.
• On narrow screens the navigation menu opens and closes with JavaScript. Without it the menu button will not open, though the phone number stays visible and every page is still reachable from the links in the footer.
• We have tested with keyboard navigation and browser zoom, but not yet with every screen reader and browser combination.

If you cannot get at something you need, please tell us. It is genuinely useful, and we would rather fix it than have you struggle.
